Huawei to Launch New AI Glasses on April 20 in Collaboration with Goertek

Huawei is set to unveil its latest AI-powered glasses, the Huawei AI Glasses, on April 20, alongside its flagship Pura 90 series. This time, the tech giant has partnered with Goertek, a prominent Chinese manufacturer, to produce these next-generation smart glasses, marking a shift from its previous collaborations with international firms.

Goertek is well-known in the electronics sector for designing and manufacturing consumer electronics, audio systems, sensors, and optical components. The company has established itself as a key player in virtual reality (VR), true wireless stereo (TWS) headphones, and wearable technology, serving as a crucial supplier for various global tech brands.

Previously, Huawei collaborated with South Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster to create its initial smart glasses. The first and second generation of these eyewear products were jointly developed, showcasing stylish designs and AI-based voice control features. However, this partnership concluded in late 2020, and no new models have been released under that collaboration since then.

In the upcoming Huawei AI Glasses, innovative materials from Yutong Technology will be utilized for the hinge module, ensuring enhanced durability. Additionally, Huawei's consumer goods division CEO, He Gan, has shared a sneak peek by posting the first image taken with the new AI glasses.

This strategic move to partner with a domestic manufacturer like Goertek signals Huawei's commitment to advancing its product offerings in the competitive smart eyewear market, which could impact its rivals and reshape consumer expectations.
