Over a span of four years, 35-year-old Daejon Love deceived women online by claiming to be a player for the San Francisco 49ers. Authorities have revealed that Love, alongside his 18-year-old partner, swindled at least 26 women, amassing approximately $1.3 million through fraudulent investment schemes. Some victims even resorted to taking out loans to send him money. Love meticulously crafted his false identity by sharing images and videos in 49ers attire, purchasing followers, and establishing a LinkedIn profile that falsely claimed he was employed by the NFL. To bolster his fabricated wealth, he displayed screenshots of a fake bank account allegedly containing over $30 million. While some women grew wary and attempted to verify his claims online, they often found search engines and AI tools confirming his deception, presenting Love as a legitimate professional football player. Love capitalized on this situation, stating, "That's Google. That's not me, that's Google," while showcasing a Google AI summary that referred to him as a member of the San Francisco 49ers. If found guilty, he could face a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
