OpenAI has launched its latest models, GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, which promise enhanced performance and affordability. The GPT-6 Sol model excels in handling complex tasks, outperforming the competitor Claude Fable 5.1 in recent tests. Notably, GPT-6 Sol exhibits half the error rate of its predecessor while approaching Astra's performance metrics at a significantly lower cost. Meanwhile, GPT-6 Luna boasts a 5.4% increase in efficiency compared to GPT-5.6 Luna and is 58% cheaper.
OpenAI has also improved the conversational style of both models, particularly in technical discussions and programming contexts. Users can expect clearer responses with reduced jargon and unnecessary details, all while maintaining essential content. Starting today, GPT-6 Sol and Luna are available to subscribers of Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu plans on ChatGPT Work and Codex. Additionally, users with Go plans and those without subscriptions will have access to GPT-6 Luna via the desktop application.
The company has also slashed API pricing for developers by 50%. The cost for GPT-6 Sol is set at $1 per million incoming tokens and $10 per million outgoing tokens, while GPT-6 Luna is priced at $0.20 and $0.50 respectively.
These advancements may reshape the market dynamics, compelling competitors to enhance their offerings to keep pace with OpenAI's innovative and cost-effective solutions.
