OpenAI has announced a significant price reduction for its GPT-5.6 AI models, effective immediately. The price cuts focus on the Terra and Luna models, which aim to enhance accessibility for developers and businesses utilizing AI through OpenAI's API for their applications. Specifically, the cost for the Terra model will decrease by 20%, while the Luna model will see an astonishing 80% reduction compared to the initial pricing set earlier this month.
As of now, clients will pay $2 for every million input tokens and $12 for every million output tokens when using the Terra model. For the Luna model, the fees will be drastically lower at $0.20 per million input tokens and $1.20 per million output tokens. OpenAI clarified that these changes will also affect the utilization of paid subscriptions for both Codex and ChatGPT Work, allowing for greater task execution before hitting usage limits.
Additionally, users on the Free and Go plans will now have access to the Terra model, while Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers can opt for either Terra or Luna.
