New Chess Robot Offers Interactive Learning Experience

SenseRobot has initiated a crowdfunding campaign for its latest innovation, Chess Mini, a smaller version of its AI chess coaching robot. This device autonomously plays on a physical chessboard, moving pieces by itself while verbally explaining each move. Equipped with advanced computer vision technology, it accurately tracks the game board and operates precise robotic arms to shift pieces. The integrated AI can engage in discussions about strategies, highlight errors, and converse in English, French, and German. The extensive training library features over 1,200 exercises and 145 endgame scenarios. Additionally, Chess Mini can connect to online platforms such as Chess.com and Lichess, allowing users to compete against real opponents on a tangible board. Chess Mini serves as a more accessible home version compared to the larger SenseRobot Chess model, which was showcased at CES 2025. Initial feedback has lauded its hands-on learning experience, though there are some reservations regarding the software's performance; for instance, during fast-paced blitz games, online platforms may not fully consider the time it takes for the robotic arms to execute moves physically. The preorder price for Chess Mini is set at $399, with the first shipments expected in July 2026. Would you consider having a chess robot like this?
