Jeff Bezos Envisions a Future with a Three-Day Workweek Thanks to AI

In a recent interview, Amazon's founder Jeff Bezos expressed his belief that advancements in artificial intelligence could allow individuals to work more efficiently, potentially leading to a three-day workweek without a reduction in earnings. "Some people might choose to support their families by working only three days a week," he mused. Currently ranked as the second richest person in the world with a net worth of $377 billion, according to Forbes, Bezos has not yet adopted a shorter work schedule himself. In 2024, while discussing his involvement with his space venture Blue Origin, he mentioned that his day is filled with meetings from 9 AM to 7 PM, followed by additional work on documents. In addition to Blue Origin, he is also developing an AI startup called Prometheus, which focuses on creating an "AI engineer." Two years ago, he emphasized the commitment required to launch a company, stating, "You can't start a company unless you're willing to work really hard. And not all the work is fun. That's why they call it work." As the conversation around AI's potential to reduce workloads continues, opinions vary on its effectiveness.
