iPhone 18 Pro Max Launches with 18 Features Unavailable in Russia

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is set to launch soon, but Russian consumers will face unprecedented limitations with this latest flagship from Apple. A total of 18 features and services will be entirely inaccessible without changing the device's region and switching the interface language to English. Many of these features are linked to Apple's advanced AI capabilities, which are intended to enhance user experience.

One of the most notable restrictions is the lack of support for the Russian language. This means that the new version of Siri, Apple's virtual assistant, will not comprehend commands in Russian. Additionally, the integration of ChatGPT through Siri and the Writing Tools designed for text management will also be unavailable.

The absence of Russian language support will hinder several other functionalities introduced during the product's presentation. For instance, features such as Genmoji, which allows users to create custom emojis, the Image Playground for generating images, and Visual Intelligence for object recognition via the camera will not function properly. Furthermore, the expanded photo search and the Clean Up feature, which removes unwanted objects from images, will also be inaccessible.

Apple's Live Translation system, marketed as a key feature of iOS 27, will similarly lack Russian language capabilities at this stage. As a result, users will miss out on real-time translation for messages, phone calls, and audio through AirPods, which are available for English and other supported languages.

Moreover, Russian users will continue to face challenges in making purchases through the App Store, as Apple has ceased supporting local payment methods. This restriction extends to in-app purchases and subscriptions for services like Apple Music, iCloud+, and Fitness+, among others. The inability to make purchases in the iTunes Store and subscribe to Apple Podcasts further complicates the experience.

Additionally, the iPhone 18 Pro Max will not support 5G networks in Russia, despite the recent rollout of this technology in several cities, which has already reached around 10 million users. Discussions between the Russian government and Apple regarding the activation of 5G functionality remain ongoing, but no timeline has been provided for when this might occur.

Experts indicate that while interest in Apple products persists in Russia, consumers' willingness to pay a premium for new iPhone models is dwindling. The company's departure from the Russian market effectively hampers the prospect of restoring many of these features. Analysts note that demand for the iPhone is declining, and the absence of 5G is not significantly influencing smartphone purchasing decisions at this time. The ongoing limitations may compel consumers to explore alternative brands, impacting Apple's competitive position in the Russian market.
