Google has introduced a new, streamlined version of its AI image editing tool, Nano Banana 2 Lite. This lighter edition utilizes the Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image model and is priced at half the cost of its standard counterpart, with each output image costing just over $0.0336. Users can currently experiment with the model for free through Google AI Studio. Nano Banana 2 Lite is set to take over from the original Nano Banana, offering a quick and efficient editing experience. While it may not deliver the highest quality results, it allows users to rapidly explore multiple creative concepts before refining the best options with the more comprehensive Nano Banana 2 or Pro versions. In addition, developers will soon gain access to the AI video editing tool, Gemini Omni Flash, which will enable conversational video editing, similar to the image editing capabilities of Nano Banana, at a comparable rate of approximately $0.10 per second for output video.
