The National Data Administration of China, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and several other agencies, has unveiled a strategy to incorporate artificial intelligence into the educational system. Educators are being encouraged to utilize AI for various purposes, including automatic grading of homework, creating teaching materials, fielding student inquiries, and assessing classroom dynamics. Concurrently, AI literacy programs are being introduced for individuals of all ages, spanning from elementary students to those in vocational training. Additionally, universities are mandated to include AI as a compulsory subject for all enrolled students. Authorities have recognized potential challenges associated with this initiative, such as issues of fraud, cheating, data breaches, and an overemphasis on rote memorization for examination purposes. To mitigate these risks, the plan stipulates that only authorized software should be utilized and that security protocols must be established.
