A British startup named SiliXon has developed an innovative AI platform aimed at simplifying electronic design for individuals lacking an engineering background. The initiative was spearheaded by co-founder and CEO Mihai Mesteru, an electronics engineer, who recognized the steep learning curve associated with traditional electronics design software. Users can articulate their project ideas—like creating a night light that activates in the dark or a remote control—and the AI assistant known as Rocky engages them with follow-up questions. Rocky not only selects appropriate components but also generates circuit diagrams, arranges the parts on a board, and connects them using copper traces. Additionally, users can visualize their designs in 3D and request modifications through a chat interface. The platform offers a free plan that allows users to initiate one public project every two weeks, while a pro subscription is available for £14.99 per month, granting access to unlimited private projects. Currently, the platform is in its early beta stage, and the team advises users to thoroughly review their designs prior to ordering a circuit board.
