At the AI Impact Summit held in New Delhi, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres advocated for the establishment of a Global Fund dedicated to Artificial Intelligence. This initiative is designed to foster the development of AI technologies that serve the interests of all, particularly in developing nations. Guterres aims to secure $3 billion for this fund, which he describes as a modest investment in addressing the considerable challenges posed by AI advancement. Additionally, the UN General Assembly has formed an international AI panel consisting of 40 eminent experts, charged with ensuring that AI technology is accessible to everyone. However, the United States firmly opposes this initiative. Michael Kratsios, a technology advisor at the White House, argues that subjecting AI to a centralized bureaucratic system would not pave the way for a promising future. Furthermore, U.S. Mission advisor Lauren Lovelace has clearly stated that regulating AI falls outside the UN's purview.
