During the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference 2026, Bret Johnson, the Chief Financial Officer of SpaceX, announced that the company has secured a new contract anticipated to bring in $1.11 billion per month, amounting to $13.2 billion annually. This significant agreement is set to commence in December 2026 and marks the fourth major deal for SpaceX this year. While details about the client remain undisclosed, the company has indicated that the contract involves providing hosting services to an unnamed AI business.
This new deal comes on the heels of previous contracts signed by SpaceX with notable companies such as Anthropic, Google Cloud, and Reflection AI, which together contribute significantly to its revenue stream. In July, rumors emerged that SpaceX was in discussions with the Pentagon regarding a potential deal for computing power that could be worth billions.
As of June 30, SpaceX had 1.4 gigawatts of data center capacity, with plans to expand this to over 2 gigawatts by the end of the year and reach approximately 10 gigawatts by the end of 2027. The company operates two data center campuses, Colossus 1 and Colossus 2, and is currently developing a third in Southaven, as well as a fourth facility near Memphis.
Originally focused on developing its own AI model named Grok, xAI, which is part of SpaceX, has shifted its strategy under Elon Musk’s leadership to actively pursue new clients following the successful deal with Anthropic. After going public in June, SpaceX's market valuation surged to around $3 trillion, although it has since adjusted to about $2 trillion.
The implications of this contract could significantly enhance SpaceX's financial position, strengthening its competitive edge in the rapidly evolving AI and cloud computing sectors. Competitors may need to reassess their strategies in light of SpaceX's expanding capabilities and market influence.
