SberDevices Expands Workforce in China to Boost Manufacturing Operations

SberDevices is ramping up hiring efforts for its Shenzhen-based subsidiary, Shibei Technology, as it seeks to enhance its manufacturing capabilities in China. The company is looking for quality control specialists and project managers to oversee the production of devices at various original design manufacturer (ODM) and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) factories. Recent job postings suggest that this recruitment drive is linked to a significant expansion of its business operations.

Established on November 25, 2020, Shibei Technology is a little-known entity under the SberDevices umbrella, with a registered capital of $300 million. The company is focused on investing in artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, robotics, speech recognition, and biometrics, aiming to create a comprehensive IoT ecosystem in collaboration with Chinese partners.

Open positions include a QA Engineer responsible for hardware testing and quality control, with a monthly salary range of 20,000 to 30,000 yuan (approximately $3,000 to $4,500). Additional roles advertised include engineers for quality assurance and a procurement manager for electronic components related to ODM/OEM projects, also reflecting the company's growth ambitions.

SberDevices has been actively seeking project managers to facilitate the development and launch of electronic devices into mass production, with salary offerings between 25,000 and 30,000 yuan. The company is also searching for heads of quality control and consumer electronics project managers, indicating a robust commitment to ensuring product quality across its growing range of smart devices, including TVs, speakers, and wearable electronics.

Despite the recent expansion, SberDevices is no longer directly associated with Sberbank, having divested from various tech enterprises since the imposition of US sanctions in April 2022. As of the end of 2022, SberDevices reported a revenue of 4.4 billion rubles, marking a 201% increase from the previous year, although it faced a net loss of 2.7 billion rubles.

The significant hiring spree in China underscores SberDevices' commitment to bolstering its manufacturing operations and enhancing its competitive edge in the electronics market. This strategic move is likely to reshape the landscape for competitors in the growing field of smart technology.
