As of December 2025, the median salary for data analysts in Ukraine has risen to $2,200, marking an increase of $100 over the past six months. However, this period has not been as favorable for professionals in Data Science, Data Engineering, and AI/ML, who have experienced a decrease in earnings of $264, bringing their median income down to $3,175, according to a recent study.
Data Engineers continue to command the highest median salary among data specialists, earning $3,550. Within this role, senior Data Engineers can earn up to $5,000, while mid-level professionals make around $3,200. Junior Data Engineers, however, earn an average of $1,000.
In the analyst category, the top earners include BI Analysts at $2,750, System Analysts at $2,710, Product Analysts at $2,600, and Business Analysts at $2,500. Notably, Lead Business Analysts can earn as much as $4,500, with senior positions averaging $3,100 and middle-level analysts at $2,200. Junior Business Analysts, in contrast, have the lowest salaries in this group, averaging $876.
The Data Science and AI sectors have seen significant salary cuts, with AI Engineers and Data Scientists earning $2,300 each, while ML Engineers earn $2,200. Data Analysts, on the other hand, have one of the lowest average salaries at $1,500, with senior Data Analysts making $3,200, middle-level analysts at $1,900, and juniors at $900.
After a summer slump, salaries for Product Analysts have rebounded, increasing by $513 and now reaching an all-time high of $2,600. System Analysts and BI Analysts have also seen considerable growth, with increases of $510 and $400, respectively. Conversely, Business Analyst salaries remained stable at $2,500, while Data Analyst salaries have decreased by $192, reverting to the December 2024 level of $1,500.
In the Data Science, Data Engineering, and AI/ML sectors, all specializations have seen salary declines, with ML/DL Engineers experiencing a drop of $925, Data Scientists $700, and Data Engineers $294.
Examining salary quartiles, the highest-paid positions among analysts in the third quartile include Lead Business Analyst ($4,700), Senior Business Analyst ($4,000), and Senior Data Analyst ($3,900). The clear leader remains the Senior Data Engineer, whose third quartile salary has decreased to $6,107 from $6,700 in the previous report.
AI Engineers have a high third quartile salary of $5,100, but there's notable salary disparity within the field, with the first quartile at $1,390 and the median at $2,300. This indicates a small group of highly compensated specialists, as the average salary for AI Engineers is lower than that of Middle Data Engineers at $3,200 and similar to ML Engineers at $2,200.
When comparing salaries based on experience, professionals in Data Science, Data Engineering, ML, and AI generally earn more than analysts, except for those with less than four years of experience, where salaries are comparable. In some experience brackets, analyst salaries can be 1.7 to 2 times lower than those of Data Science specialists.
By company type, median salaries for analysts in outsourcing ($2,750), service ($2,600), and product companies ($2,400) show little variation. However, all these IT sectors significantly outperform non-IT businesses, where the median salary for analysts is only $1,600.
Data Science, Engineering, ML, and AI specialists see an even greater salary gap between IT and non-IT sectors, with non-IT median salaries at $1,500, compared to $3,125 in service companies, $3,500 in product companies, and $3,550 in outsourcing firms. Experienced Data Science professionals find startups particularly attractive, with median salaries reaching $4,050 and third quartiles hitting $8,225, despite a small sample size.
In terms of geography, analysts in Odessa, Kyiv, and Lviv report the highest median salaries, ranging from $2,200 to $2,300, while Dnipro and Kharkiv lag behind. For Data Science professionals, median salaries are equal in Kyiv and Lviv, at $3,500.
Internationally, analysts and data scientists typically earn more abroad than in Ukraine, especially among those with over ten years of experience, where the salary gap reaches $950. In Data Science, Engineering, ML, and AI fields, the largest difference is seen among professionals with six to nine years of experience, with a $1,450 disparity.
These trends highlight the competitive landscape for data specialists in Ukraine, suggesting that while analysts experience some stability, other data-related roles face challenges that could impact hiring strategies and salary negotiations across the industry.
