A recent study conducted by Apple Hills Digital in collaboration with VK Tech has revealed that the Russian market for artificial intelligence (AI) software is projected to experience significant growth, potentially quadrupling to 94.8 billion rubles by 2030. The study anticipates a robust annual growth rate of 30.5%, with the market expected to reach 25 billion rubles by 2025.
The research, which analyzed the volume, structure, and dynamics of the AI software market in Russia from 2022 to 2025 with projections extending to 2030, was based on direct surveys of over 40 leading Russian AI solution vendors, alongside public financial reports and open sources. Between 2022 and 2025, the market nearly doubled from 13.5 billion rubles to 25 billion rubles, achieving an average annual growth rate of 22.7%. In 2025 alone, the market is expected to grow by 27% compared to the previous year.
The bulk of this market is made up of applied AI software, accounting for 76% or 18.9 billion rubles. Key segments include conversational services, which represent 53% of this category, and computer vision solutions at 31%. The remaining 24%, or 6.1 billion rubles, consists of AI platforms, which include software for model creation and operation, such as MLOps for deploying and maintaining machine learning models.
The AI platforms segment is predicted to be the fastest-growing area of the market, expected to expand at an annual rate of 50% and reach 46.5 billion rubles by 2030. A significant driver for this growth is the rise of fundamental generative AI (GenAI) models, whose sales surged from 0.1 billion rubles in 2022 to 2 billion rubles by 2025, marking an impressive average annual growth rate of 156.7%. In contrast, applied AI software is projected to grow at a steadier pace of 20.6% annually, reaching 48.3 billion rubles by 2030.
The method of software deployment is also evolving. While local deployment on customer infrastructure currently dominates, making up 62.3% of the market in 2025, public cloud solutions are growing more rapidly, with their share expected to increase from 37.7% in 2025 to 42.9% by 2030.
Dmitry Lazarenko, the director of cloud services at VK Tech, emphasized the importance of integrating AI solutions into business processes rather than focusing solely on the models themselves. As companies move away from numerous pilot projects, they are now adopting strategies and evaluating effectiveness. The incorporation of generative AI into applied products is driving sales, and businesses now prioritize suppliers who can provide ready-made scenarios with measurable effects.
This projected growth in the AI software market indicates a significant opportunity for companies operating in this sector, as well as for competitors looking to capitalize on the increasing demand for AI solutions in business processes.
