Over One-Third of Americans Convinced UFOs Are Alien Crafts

A recent survey conducted by Gallup reveals that 37% of Americans think that some unidentified flying objects (UFOs) are indeed extraterrestrial vehicles. The belief in alien encounters is more prevalent among women, with 41% expressing this view, compared to 34% of men. Additionally, about 16% of participants reported having witnessed something that they would describe as a UFO, which is significantly higher than the figures recorded in 1973 when this data was first gathered. In contrast, nearly half of those surveyed, specifically 49%, believe that all UFO sightings can be attributed to human actions or natural occurrences. Interestingly, since 2019, the number of skeptics in this area has dropped by 11 percentage points. The renewed public fascination with UFOs has been sparked by the Pentagon's recent declassification of long-secret UFO files. Despite this, a significant 78% of the population feels that government officials are withholding more information about UFOs than they disclose.
