OpenAI Launches Task Management Hub in ChatGPT and Discontinues Pulse Feature

OpenAI has introduced a significant update to its ChatGPT chatbot, unveiling a centralized hub designed to streamline and enhance the management of scheduled tasks. This new feature allows users to efficiently oversee tasks that the AI is set to execute in the future.

Previously, the ability to schedule tasks within ChatGPT was not easily accessible to many users. Now, when the sidebar interface is opened, users can directly access the new "Scheduled" page. This page consolidates all active tasks in one location, providing a clear view of upcoming requests along with their exact execution times. Users can easily manage these tasks by pausing, editing, or deleting them as needed.

In addition to improving the user interface, OpenAI claims that all scheduled tasks will now be performed more quickly and reliably. The update offers users increased flexibility in task scheduling; they can instruct the chatbot to carry out actions at a specific time or within a broader timeframe, such as "in the morning" or "in the evening."

The update also introduces a monitoring task creation feature, enabling ChatGPT to proactively search for information on the internet or in applications linked to the user's account. This functionality saves users from the need to manually conduct these searches.

The new task management hub is currently being rolled out to users with paid subscriptions, including Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise, across both web and mobile applications. However, the timeline for when free users will gain access to this feature has not yet been announced.

In conjunction with this update, OpenAI has decided to discontinue the Pulse feature, which provided personalized daily summaries launched last year. Pro users will have a 14-day transition period, after which they can create similar future summaries using the new task management hub.

This update positions OpenAI's ChatGPT as a more versatile tool in the competitive AI landscape, potentially attracting new users while prompting competitors to enhance their own task management capabilities.
