OnePlus has unveiled its latest smartphone, the Nord 6, specifically targeting mobile gamers and advanced users. Priced at approximately $420, the device boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, a stunning 50-megapixel camera, and an impressive 9,000 mAh battery.
The Nord 6's gaming capabilities are at the forefront of its design, offering support for up to 165 frames per second in popular mobile games such as BGMI, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Free Fire MAX. To enhance competitive gaming, OnePlus has integrated innovative hardware dubbed "Edge Tech," which includes a 3200 Hz touch sampling rate for quicker input response, a finely calibrated 6-axis gyroscope for precise aiming, and a dedicated Touch Reflex chip alongside an enhanced spatial audio amplifier for improved audiovisual feedback.
In performance benchmarks, the Nord 6 scored an impressive 2,503,854 points on AnTuTu, significantly outpacing its competitors in similar testing environments. The smartphone features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with Sunburst HDR technology, boasting a resolution of 2772 x 1272 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz. Its display shines with a peak brightness of 3600 nits and supports PWM dimming at 3840 Hz, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience even in low light. The screen is also protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+ and offers water and dust resistance with an IP68 rating, as well as compliance with military standards for durability.
Connectivity is optimized with an exclusive Wi-Fi G2 chip, which enhances signal stability in congested areas and supports 5G-Advanced for higher data transfer speeds. The standout feature of the Nord 6 is its SiCarbon battery, which uses up to 15% silicon to maximize density without increasing the device's thickness. OnePlus claims that the battery can last over 2.5 days of moderate use or approximately 11.1 hours of continuous gaming. The smartphone supports 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging, capable of fully charging the device in about 70 minutes, and includes a 27W reverse charging feature, allowing it to act as a power bank for other devices.
The camera system includes a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA-600 sensor with optical image stabilization and additional sensors for improved low-light performance. It can shoot 4K video at 60 fps, while the front-facing camera features a 32-megapixel sensor capable of 4K video at 30 fps. AI-driven photography features such as AI Portrait Glow and AI Eraser enhance the user experience with advanced editing capabilities.
The Nord 6 runs on OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16, with promises of four years of Android updates and six years of security patches. It comes in three colors: Quick Silver, Fresh Mint, and Pitch Black, weighing 217 grams and measuring 162.5 x 77.5 x 8.5 mm. Initially launched in India, it is available in two configurations: 8GB RAM with 256GB storage for around $420 and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage for about $452, with plans for a European rollout in the future.
This launch positions OnePlus to compete aggressively in the smartphone market, particularly against rivals targeting the gaming segment, potentially shifting market dynamics and consumer preferences.
