London Schools Introduce Virtual Reality to Alleviate Student Stress

Schools in London are embracing virtual reality (VR) technology to help students manage stress related to exams, ADHD, and family issues. The innovative seven-minute VR experience begins with a gradual immersion process, where the classroom fades away into darkness, replaced by gentle light effects that guide users into a calming environment. This setup aids students in relaxing and centering themselves.

Students have the flexibility to engage with the VR sessions during designated times or whenever they feel overwhelmed. In the initial group of ten schools implementing this program, an impressive 90% of students reported an immediate reduction in stress following their VR sessions. Educators have also noted positive changes in student attendance and behavior.

"I used to be terrified of exams. Now, they don't scare me as much. It was once the most frightening thing for me. Whenever I felt that fear, I would put on the headset, and it really helped me process my emotions," shared 16-year-old Laura Wilson.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many advocating that every school should adopt this technology, while others emphasize the importance of having qualified psychologists available to support students.
