Huawei has officially announced the launch of its new tablet, the MatePad 11.5 (2026), during an event held in China on December 23, 2025. Designed for both educational purposes and entertainment, the device boasts an impressive 11.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2456 x 1600 pixels, an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, and a peak brightness of 600 nits.
The MatePad 11.5 (2026) is equipped with Huawei's proprietary Kirin processors, with the standard version featuring the Kirin T82B chipset, while the Soft Light Edition is powered by the Kirin T82. The tablet also includes an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls, and a 13-megapixel rear camera capable of recording 1080p video.
One of the standout features is its Soft Light Edition, which minimizes glare and reduces eye strain by utilizing circular polarization to mimic natural light. Both variants of the tablet have received certifications from TÜV Rheinland, ensuring a safer visual experience for users.
Running on HarmonyOS 5.1, the MatePad 11.5 (2026) includes a suite of artificial intelligence features, such as various modes for minors, study, eye protection, and a do-not-disturb mode, alongside parental controls. It is powered by a robust 10,100 mAh battery that supports 40W fast charging, allowing for up to 14 hours of video playback.
The tablet will be available in four colors: Deep Space Gray, Frost Silver, Feather Sand Purple, and Island Blue. Pre-orders will start on December 25, with pricing set at $255 for the Wi-Fi version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Soft Light Edition starts at $295 and goes up to $395 for higher storage configurations.
This launch positions Huawei strongly in the competitive tablet market, especially against rivals who may struggle to match its specifications and price point.
