A recent survey conducted by a popular American dating platform revealed that a significant number of Gen Z and Millennials are hesitant to date individuals involved in artificial intelligence development. Approximately 3,000 participants took part in the study, which found that one-third of Gen Z respondents and 20% of Millennials indicated a decline in interest toward potential partners who create AI tools that could replace human jobs. Conversely, only about 10% of Gen Z and 12% of Millennials found such roles appealing. The authors of the study noted, "For many daters, working in AI is not a neutral factor. The alignment of one's career with AI is being scrutinized, especially by Gen Z, where supporting AI comes with its own repercussions." Roughly 12% of those surveyed expressed reluctance to pursue a relationship with someone whose role might be automated. Furthermore, around half of the respondents placed significant importance on job stability when selecting a partner, with 20% of women considering it a deal-breaker if their date's job was susceptible to AI replacement. This figure dropped to below 10% for men. Interestingly, nearly half of the participants showed a preference for partners who are actively acquiring new skills to remain competitive against AI advancements. Would you consider dating someone who works in AI?
