At a recent event, Elon Musk showcased the remarkable capabilities of the Tesla Roadster, which ascended a ramp resembling the height of a five-story building, ultimately hanging upside down at its peak. After this thrilling display, the vehicle executed a mid-air flip before smoothly landing. It also soared over a truck and a series of parked cars while in motion.
During the vertical ascent, powerful fans keep the car suspended by drawing air from beneath it. In the air, it is propelled and rotated by ten cold-gas thrusters that rely on 600 liters of compressed air. This air supply can be replenished on the move using an onboard electric compressor. Musk emphasized, "This will be the actual car that's on the roads," although he noted that only the specialized Rocket trim is capable of flying, and it is available exclusively by invitation and not sanctioned for public roadways.
Reservations for this innovative vehicle range from $50,000 to $250,000, with production slated to begin in 2028, despite the Roadster's initial unveiling dating back to 2017. The standard model of the Roadster accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in under 1.6 seconds, while the version equipped with rear thrusters achieves the same speed in less than 0.9 seconds, and the flying variant can do it in under 0.59 seconds. The car boasts a top speed of approximately 230 mph and a range of about 300 miles.
