OpenAI has launched a groundbreaking update to ChatGPT, introducing the Intelligent UI feature alongside the release of GPT-6. This new capability allows ChatGPT to determine when traditional text responses fall short, enabling it to enhance answers with interactive elements such as diagrams, graphs, forms, buttons, and other visual components. For instance, when asked about the structure of a bicycle, ChatGPT can display an interactive diagram that highlights specific parts. Additionally, for learning Mahjong, it can categorize tiles, and users can even request the creation of a savings calculator, a bill splitter, or a simple game directly within the chat interface.
OpenAI has specifically trained GPT-6 to select the appropriate response format rather than indiscriminately adding visual elements to every answer. If standard text suffices, ChatGPT will continue to respond in that format.
Beyond the Intelligent UI, GPT-6 is designed to respond more swiftly to complex queries, providing useful parts of answers even before completing the full response. According to OpenAI, GPT-6 Instant is, on average, 44% faster than the previous version, GPT-5.6 Instant, when handling web search requests. The company also claims enhancements in web search capabilities and improved resilience against attempts to bypass security protocols.
The Intelligent UI feature is already becoming available to users on ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans. It will be rolled out to users on the free and Go plans starting October 9. Paid subscribers will have access to GPT-6 Sol, while those on the free tier and Go will use a lighter version, GPT-6 Luna.
This development marks a significant advancement for OpenAI in the competitive landscape of AI technology, potentially setting a new standard for user interaction and engagement in conversational AI platforms.
